Open Enrollment Period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is November 1, 2024 through January 15, 2025. The deadline for a January 1st effective date is December 15, 2024. If you want to enroll or change your plan for the new year, be sure and make note of this deadline.
If you do not have health insurance through your job, Medicare, Medicaid or another source, you can find coverage through the marketplace. All plans include prescription drugs, emerging services, hospitalization, lab work, mental health and substance abuse. It gives you free preventative care at no cost when you use providers in your plan’s network. You also pay your premiums directly to the insurance company not the marketplace. Plans and prices do change yearly, so it is wise to review your plan every year. Many people feel comfortable with the plan they have or simply do not take the time to review it, but there might be a plan that would suit you better.
For additional information visit: Healthcare.gov. The marketplace center phone number is 1-800-318-2596. You can also contact an agent in your community.
Another reminder… Medicare Open Enrollment is still open until December 7th. There are big changes to the Part D Plan, so it is worth checking if there are changes in your existing plan, such as prescriptions, pharmacies, and pricing. Health insurance plans are an important part of your daily life. Take the time to review yours so there are no surprises when you need to use them.
