The annual open enrollment period occurs October 15th through December 7th each year.
Many people think they do not have to do anything if they already have a plan that they are happy with.
It is always a good idea to check with your current plan as to any changes they are anticipating in the new year. Do not assume your doctor or the drugs you are taking are still part of the plan.
Also, do your homework on extras such as dental, vision, and hearing coverage. Often times these coverages are very limited as to what they cover. Whether you have a plan with a 0 premium or you pay for one research costs including deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out of pocket maximum for in network as well as out of network coverage. You more than likely will be bombarded with information during the open enrollment, do not just decide to go with name recognition or the place your friend may have.
Focus on your own situation and find the plan that meets your needs
If you would rather sit down with someone, there are usually representatives in your community that are knowledgable in the Medicare area.
Don’t wait until the last minute to do your homework. Finding the right plan for you now, can avoid a lot of unexpected expenses and worry later.
